Crochet Abbreviations and Information
ch(s) = chain(s)
dc = double crochet
dtr = double treble
foll = follow
hdc = half double crochet
rem = remaining
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
st(s) = stitch(es)
st ch = starting chain
t ch = turning chain
tog = together
tr = treble
When counting your stitches, the slip knot never counts as a stitch, nor does the stitch on your hook.
When beginning the next row, there is need to chain one or more stitches so that the stitches stand to the appropriate height. The following is a general guideline:
Single Crochet: Chain 1
Half Double Crochet: Chain 2
Double Crochet: Chain 3
Treble Crochet: Chain 4
